When I started singing and really got in depth into the music industry at the age of fourteen; that was my idea of beauty, along with if people approved of me, whether if its something I’m wearing or if someone wanted to take my picture, then I was convinced I must be pretty. It was a dangerous thought pattern because I was placing my self-esteem in the hands of others and what they thought about me.
According to Webster Dictionary beauty is describe as the inherent quality in a object of pleasing the eye, ear, and mind. I hate the fact that the dictionary definition of beauty gives pleasure to the senses instead of the heart and soul where beauty truly lies.
Real beauty is what comes from within even when we are without; its what shines the light on others even when the days are dark; and its what makes us proud to be strong young women who overcome rather than just come over.
